Subclass 601 – Electronic Travel Authority (ETA)

The Subclass 601 ETA is available to eligible passport holders travelling to Australia for tourism and other permitted short-term purposes.

Government application fee

AUD $20 per applicant

The ETA application is submitted through the official Australian ETA mobile application.

Applicants may nominate an email address for correspondence so that any further requests or communication relating to the application can be followed up appropriately.

Estimated processing time

Approximately 7–14 days, depending on the individual application and Australian immigration processing.

Subclass 600 – Visitor Visa

The Subclass 600 Visitor Visa may be suitable for travellers who are not eligible for an ETA or who require a different visitor visa arrangement.

Applications are submitted online through an Australian Government ImmiAccount.

Government application fee

Approximately AUD $200 per applicant

Government visa fees can change. The applicable fee at the time of application will apply.

Supporting documents

The Subclass 600 application generally requires more supporting documentation. Depending on the applicant’s circumstances, this may include:

Passport and identification documents
Evidence of financial capacity
Travel plans and itinerary
Evidence of employment or business commitments
Evidence of ties to the applicant’s home country
Accommodation information
Invitation or supporting letters, where applicable
Other documents requested by Australian immigration

Some applicants may also be required to attend VFS Global or another designated location for biometric collection or other requirements.

Estimated processing time

Approximately one month, although processing times can vary depending on the applicant, documentation provided and Australian Government processing requirements.
