Relax and let our host drive while you enjoy the view and a few…

Your day will start in the homestead at Woodlands Historic Park with a generous sized scone served with your choice of coffee or tea.  We recommend you not to overindulge at breakfast on the morning of your tour, you’ll want to save room for your scone!

After morning tea you will have time to explore the homestead / museum before you tour of Living Legends, also within Woodlands Historic Park.  Living Legends is home to some favourite retired champion race horses such as Fields of Omagh, Might and Power, Silent Witness, Better Loosen Up, Rogan Josh, Apache Cat, Chief De Beers, Brew, Paris Lane, Efficient and his old mate Zipping.  Plus recent additions include Prince of Penzance, All Times Lucky, Who Shot Thebarman (NZ), Redkirk Warrior (GB) and Peniaphobia (IRE), Fawkner and Almandin.  On the tour you will get to meet, pat and feed the horses.  If you’re lucky, you’ll even get to watch the local kangaroos in their natural environment.

We then head down the road to enjoy a wood-fired pizza lunch and wine tastings at the Gisborne Peak Winery, located within the Macedon Ranges wine region, a recognised cool climate wine growing region.

A little further down the road is Holgate Brewery, our last stop of the day. Holgate’s is a country pub with a range of classic beer styles, full in flavour and rich in character. See a microbrewery in action at the hotel.  Staff will lead you through tasting the range of beers on offer at Holgate before showing you the brewery itself.  Afterwards you’ll have time to meander down the main street of beautiful Woodend or sit by the fire / in the beer garden and enjoy another brew.
